Hello, I am Svetlana.
I was born in raised in Kazakhstan. My undergraduate degree is in Chemical Engineering from Kazakh-British Technical University (Kazakhstan), and my postgraduate degree in Petroleum Engineering from Politecnico di Torino (Italy).
I started my oil and gas career in 2011, and my work experience includes various assignments within the Process Engineering department. I supported the operation of two gas processing plants and field gathering systems. As I progressed in my career, my competency and level of responsibility kept increasing. Responsibilities included day-to-day operations support such as process monitoring, optimization, and problem-solving; preparation of operating guidelines; turnaround support; and process design support for small capital projects.
I was recognized for troubleshooting and improving the plant processes throughout my career, seeking ways to reduce company costs, leading cross-functional teams, and mentoring engineers.
In addition, in 2020, I received a Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Regional Projects, Facilities, and Construction Award for contribution to the improvement of the technical discipline.
Currently, I am pursuing my master's degree in Computer Science with a focus on Data Science at Rice University and am fascinated by the new opportunities that technology and digitalization could bring. I want to be a part of industry modernization with state-of-the-art engineering applications utilizing computing resources to their full potential.
I enjoy staying physically active in my free time, especially running, hiking, or exploring new places and sightseeing while traveling. I've been to 38 countries so far, and I lose track of time when painting, enjoy learning about space, and looking forward to Planet Nine discovery.
